Fact – if 95% of the population or community is vaccinated or is immune through previous contact against an infectious disease, it will lower the risk for non-immune or unvaccinated individuals to get the disease. The infection is also less likely to spread to other communities.
Individuals most vulnerable to infection include infants, elderly, and sick people who have undeveloped or weakened immune systems. Although most healthy individuals tend to fight off infection fine, their presence around a vulnerable individual can be life threatening.
Consider who is in your “community” that may need help in getting protection through herd immunity. No one lives in a vacuum.
